Safer
Living & Community Care
|

1. In
pursuance of the objectives of our Society and help members
develop into better and more caring citizens of tomorrow we
continue to promote awareness in first aid, lifesaving and community
care. The concept of safer living and promoting safety in every
facet of our existence is much neglected field in our education
system. For too long we have watched one another courting danger
in ignorance and false flamboyance to the extent that we as
a people appear to be in a rush to commit suicide! This needs
to change and we need to give greater value to life in our country.
We may be a billion but deserve better than to lose 85,000 lives
in road accidents, about 40,000 to other general category accident
including domestic, industrial, institutional, railways and
those involving air travel. Additionally, we lose 40,000 lives
to drowning annually. The sad part is that most of these are
young people, in the prime of their lives, individuals, who
contribute most to the society and in fact form an important
part of our GDP. What a national
loss year after year! Sadder still, that
many should die unattended, uncared for and frequently unknown
at an accident site. We can change it by learning skills to
help a fellow being and take an oath to stop to help a person
in distress. Other societies have done it. Why not us?

| 2. Instructors
from the Rashtriya Life Saving Society (India), which is member
of the International Life Saving Federation and a branch of
the Royal Life Saving Society (Commonwealth)) help interested people learn skills to help a person in distress and tell them about"Safer Living"
and "Community Care". The
Society can help you learn skills to help but it can do so only
if you volunteer to learn. There
is no better "High" than what one get after saving
a life. Ask any one, who has experienced the feeling! |
