The International Connection

The International Life Saving Federation [ILS] with its presence in 100 countries and the Royal Life Saving Society (Commonwealth) [RLSS (C)], functioning in 55 countries spearhead a worldwide movement to promote awareness in lifesaving and first aid procedure and technique. The Rashtriya Life Saving Society (India) [RLSS (I)] as a full member of the ILS and the Official Branch of the RLSS (C) is part of that movement. ILS is headquartered in Belgium and is a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and a recognised agency with the World Health Organisation (WHO).

The above "Organisations" have introduced "Sports" as a means to popularise the lifesaving concept. In the end it is hoped that every water sports person will be a lifesaver and every sport person a confident first aider. RLSS (I) in India wishes to go further, aiming to take these skills to as many as possible, encouraging every one between age 10 to 50 years to learn to help to augment community care and well being.
