Why First Aid and Life Saving?
The time to learn first aid is before you need to use it!
A road accident - a bus crashes into a car throwing it some distance away. Bystanders rush to rescue the driver of the car. Getting the car back in position, they remove the driver of the car, seat him in a passing car and send him to the nearest hospital. Because of the ignorant and unskilled handling of the injured driver, his spinal cord is injured by the sharp edge of a broken vertebra and he remains paralyzed for the rest of his life.
A child is pulled unconscious from the swimming pool. No one around knows cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) so nothing is done till the ambulance arrives and the paramedical staff try to revive the victim. It is just too late. CPR would have preserved life.
These couple of instances is among the many we hear of everyday. It clearly points to the need for first aid and life saving training. It is better to know it and not need it than not know it. Everyone must be able to perform first aid as most often people find themselves in a situation requiring it, either for another person or for themselves.
The survivability of a victim depends on how he is treated in the "Golden Hour" and more importantly in the first 15 minutes, often called the "Platinum Period". RLSS (I) thus hopes to turn a large section of the Indian population into lifesavers, first aiders or first responders, who will be able to give first aid to a drowning or injured accident victim. If present at a scene of an accident, a lifesaver can render prompt assistance, facilitate early medical help and thus save a life.

Our certification programme combines lectures, demonstrations and hands-on training and practice.
We also impart training free of cost to the weaker section of the community.
