12 September 2020, is World First Aid Day, when every year a campaign is launched to promote the importance of first aid training in preventing injuries and saving lives.
To mark the 20th year of the World First Aid day on 12 September 2020 and raise first aid awareness among the masses, the Rashtriya Life Saving Society (India) is organising a Free Webinar from 4 pm to 5:30 pm, when distinguished speakers shall speak on the importance and benefits of learning First Aid. We are launching ‘Surakshit Bharat’ campaign in line with ‘Swatch & Swasth Bharat’ campaigns, now under way in the country.
In 1998 after a horrendous accident in which 28 very young lives were lost due to absence of informed adult intervention, concern and care, the Rashtriya Life Saving Society (India) was launched to train people in lifesaving skills. The Society has been training CPR AED Resuscitators, Trauma Managers, First Aiders, Lifesavers and Pool/Beach Lifeguards.
We lose half a million lives to accidents on land and in water every year. For over two decades RLSS (I) has been trying to arrest this attrition of people, mostly of the young, training nearly half a million lifesavers across the country who are under oath to help accident victims and save lives. But this is not enough and we need to do much more. We suffer the international stigma that “Life is cheap in India”. The Surakshit Bharat Campaign aims to add value to life in the country and erase this stigma from the minds of people across the globe with dedicated effort to enhance safety of our people in general and of the youth in particular. Our mission is to create a ‘Lifesaver in every Home’ as only then shall we be able to create a safety cover for the masses in the country.
RLSS (India) is the official branch of the Royal Life Saving Society (Commonwealth) and a full Member of the International Lifesaving Federation. Thousands of young volunteers have benefitted through RLSS (India) Certified Training Courses by obtaining employment nationally and internationally. They are an asset to the society at large enhancing safety in the community.
